CURRENT FUNDRAISING INITIATIVE:

SAVE AOTEA'S AMBULANCE SERVICE!

Funding runs out in September 2025.

Our local St John’s ambulance provides critical emergency services and medical support to our community. But unfortunately, the service is in jeopardy. With a shortage of trained local volunteers, our small, dedicated paramedic team can no longer cover the full emergency response. If we wish to retain service year-round, then paid paramedics will need to come from Auckland as required. It’s estimated that around $150,000 per annum will cover this. Your donation can help us save lives and ensure that the ambulance service is always ready to respond when needed.

There are a range of ways that Aotea Philanthropy envisages this funding could be met:

- Large one-off donations
- Annual donations with several parties contributing to make up the whole e.g 100 people gifting $125 per month
- 50 people gifting $250 per month
But every contribution counts!

Donate Now! Donations will receive a receipt and are tax deductible.

Audioarts AIR-4 12-channel radio console

Aotea FM has been running with poor equipment and sub- standard conditions. While the team are fundraising to replace critical infrastructure such as batteries and building works, there is a real problem with the basic equipment itself i.e. the current mixer is not up to standard – the sound is sometimes crackling, some of the switches do not release, some of the lights are broken and so forth. It has become so bad that it is unable to be used by presenters who need to use their own personal laptops and other devices. Aotea FM have researched what it is they need to get the station running more seamlessly and have been advised by a reputable radio engineer that this Air-4 console is not only comprehensive but economical and easy for volunteers to use.

Lifepak 15 defibrillator/monitor

A Lifepak 15 defibrillator/monitor is a mobile medical assessment and monitoring device used by clinicians to record vital signs such as ECG, blood pressure, blood oxygen and breathe carbon dioxide levels. The 12 lead ECG function can be used to help diagnose heart attacks and other cardiac problems. The machine is also an advanced defibrillator that can be used to restart or reset various life-threatening heart rhythms, and it can also be used as an emergency external pacemaker. By purchasing a defibrillator/monitor that is the same model as used by St John Ambulance throughout New Zealand, this will help to provide seamless healthcare in an emergency on Aotea. The current cost is $41,000 and we have identified this is an urgent need on the island as the current model that the Health Centre is using is coming to the end of its operational life.
